Ein dreifach Tusch. Ja ich weiß, alter Scherz, auch keiner der Besten. Nur eine passende Einleitung für ein kurzes Geständnis hier im Netz, weils kaum einer liest und weil ich mir im echten Leben für Rechtfertigungen zu schade bin:

Ich finde Misogynie manchmal lustig.

Das stimmt eigentlich nicht mal. Sachen über die ich lachen kann fallen in eine von 4 Kategorien: Gemein, absurd, dumm oder, und das ist die schlimmste, so gemein dass DU nicht darüber lachen kannst. Oder nochmal in klareren Worten: ich kann über gewisse Dinge nur so schallend und anhaltend lachen, weil sie irgendjemand der Anwesenden nicht angebracht/korrekt/fein findet. Das geht natürlich fast nur außerhalb dessen, was als politisch korrekt gilt. Pikierend pikant.

Jetzt sind meine Freunde, Bekannten, Kollegen und ich natürlich auf irgendeine Art und Weise bildungsbürgerliche, als Kind in Moralin gefallene, soziopolitisch-afgeklärte und idealistisch aufrechte Arschlöcher und genau mit solchen Leuten umgeben wir uns in der Öffentlichkeit ja auch. In politisch bewussten Kneipen wo selbst der Essigreiniger unter der Spüle noch vegan ist und einen Hauch Migrationshintergrund versprüht. Das macht es mir humoristisch natürlich einfach, obwohl ich wirklich nichts gegen irgendwas davon einzuwenden habe. Gerade weil ich aber nicht mehr oder weniger Vorurteile gegen unterdrückte Mehr- oder Minderheiten hege als mein bildungsbürgerliches Gewissen es mir erlaubt, will ich wenigstens darüber lachen und scherzen dürfen, wie absurd diese Vorurteile oft sind. Quasi Subversion durch Affirmation durch Übertreibung durch Anti-Anti.

Wiedemauchsei, eines dieser Themen mit denen man leicht diesen Effekt erzielen kann sind natürlich Geschlechterunterschiede. Wobei mir bis heute noch ein wirklich guter Witz über Männer begegnen muss, aber vielleicht ist das auch wieder selektive Wahrnehmung. Ich jedenfalls kriege Atemnot bei Kalauern wie “Herdanziehungskraft” oder “Frauen sind wie Ausländer, kennste einen, kennste alle.” (K.I.Z., doppelte Atemnot).

Von daher: liebe Frauen aber auch Ausländer, Behinderte, Blondinen, Vegetarier, Veganer, Homo-, Bi-, Trans-, Pan-, A- und Polysexuelle: ich entschuldige mich im Voraus, nicht böse sein, es ist nicht so gemein(t).

I’m fairly new to php frameworks in general and just started out getting my feet wet with Yii (yes, I know I’m late to the game, forgive me…). In my short experience Yii takes a lot of effort to get started with, especially for framework beginners like me, but when you get it up and running (starting here for example) things soon start to make sense and it really helps getting standard functionality going real quick.

So I was really happy with how things progressed with our little project when I ran into trouble. It took me about 5 hours to resolve this issue, so this is why I’m blogging about it, hoping other people will find this post. That is also why I’m blogging in english today, forgive me if it’s a bit wobbly.

I was trying to get a many to many AR class relationship going, associating users with groups. Kind of the same thing forum user jefftulsa explains here. I was trying to get the implementation going by hand, without using gii, because I already modified my models to a certain extent. Shouldn’t be that hard, I thought, and started consulting the Yii reference on the topic. So I came up with this:

and vice versa for my AR class Group:

According to documentation and everything else I found on this topic, this should, in newer versions of Yii, be sufficient to establish the desired relationship.

But it wouldn’t fucking work. $model->groups returned an empty array (yes, I had some test relations in my table). I tried to debug this for hours and hours and hours. I repeatedly RTFMd and JFGId in all possible variations, when I found the afore mentioned forum post by jefftulsa, set up a blank Yii project, a new test database and tried repeating every one of his steps. Gii helped writing the models and 2 minutes later I ran the test –  successfully… I then compared every single line of code. I found nothing wrong with mine – it should work, but it doesnt. I double checked my database tables, indexes and constraints. Everything was in place.

That’s when I noticed something in Jeff’s SQL code:

ENGINE = InnoDB

… concludes every CREATE TABLE he uses.

I’m not a very good db dev, so I had to consult the internet on what that really meant. Yes, I knew InnoDB was one of the many MySQL engines available, but I didn’t know what the difference really was. So here goes what I found out:

If you want to succesfully use foreign key relations in Yii, you have to have your tables use InnoDB as your database engine. Also, if this is the case, Gii will do this for you! For newer versions of mysql InnoDB should be the default setting. I was using a version of MAMP, where this was not the case, all my tables used MyISAM. When I changed them all to InnoDB, everything worked.

Anonymous zeigen sich, wie üblich, not amused und DDoSen Server des US-Justizministeriums und der RIAA. Klassische Reaktion also. Diese Argumentation ist so nicht ganz falsch, die Frage lautet aber anders: Wer verdient hier mit was? Und wie viel?

Man kann es erahnen. Die Tatsache, dass wohl genug Leute bereit sind, für den einfachen Zugriff auf Raubkopien Geld zu zahlen, für Premium-Accounts etc., spricht zwar dafür, dass auch legale Angebote mit einer realistischen Preisstruktur, viabel sein können, moralisch ist das alles aber hoch fragwürdig. Kimble hat ein Vermögen damit verdient, die “geprellten” Künstler haben keinen Pfennig gesehen. DAS ist das Problem an solchen Diensten. Am dezentralen BitTorrent z.B. verdient ja erstmal niemand wirklich, die paar Werbeeinblendungen auf den Torrent-Seiten werden so lukrativ nicht sein und z.B. Scrapetorrent trägt sich über Spenden gerade so selbst.

Wenn wir also schon damit argumentieren, Filesharing sei eine Kulturleistung und die Vertriebs- und Verwertungsstrukturen müssten darauf reagieren und reformiert werden, etc., dann sollten wir so Leuten wie Kim Schmitz nicht auch noch Geld in den Rachen schieben sondern lieber weiter an einer offenen, dezentralen “Infrastruktur Internet” arbeiten, die man nicht mal eben mit einem FBI-Ausflug nach Neuseeland abschalten kann.

If they had just quitely taken files for themselves and not put in writing how they were intentionally using the site for illegal purposes, it would still be up and running.
